POSITION: Shipping Technician

LOCATION: Blackfoot, Idaho

JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipping Technician will ensure the delivery of Spudnik equipment and parts in a timely and orderly manner through efficient tear down and loading of parts and equipment onto trucks, containers, and other transportation means. Technician will be responsible for maintaining yard and storage areas in an orderly condition as well as operating and maintaining heavy duty equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Will be available for on-call work where appropriate in order to respond appropriately to shipping needs. Will demonstrate high level of responsibility and accountability, working effectively and efficiently, and represent Spudnik in a professional manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

• Prepare machinery and equipment for shipments through proper tear down and disassembly procedures, ensuring all removed parts are collected, documented, and shipped with correlating equipment shipment; 

• Operate forklifts, scissorlifts, cranes, and other necessary equipment used in shipping, loading, and unloading;

• Load and unload trucks, containers, and other transportation equipment in a safe and timely manner, ensuring that no damage is done to equipment or vehicles;

• Document load thoroughly and accurately through pictures and written lists of any components removed from the machine;

• Accurately and thoroughly complete paperwork following each load;

• Complete daily inspections of trucks and all other shipping equipment, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order, performing maintenance and light repair as necessary;

• Communicate with customers, shippers, drivers, sales representatives, managers, and all other contacts in a clear, concise manner and with respect at all times;

• Follow all Spudnik policies and participate in department meetings and training sessions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and keep the shipping office and yard orderly and free of debris;

• Remove snow, dirt, hazards, and any other debris from parking areas, yard areas, entrances, and exits as needed;

• Work in a team environment with little or no supervision;

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum two years of experience in heavy equipment operation;

• Minimum two years of experience loading and unloading trucks, trailers, containers or other such transportation equipment;

• Previous experience operating forklifts, cranes, and other types of equipment;

• Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance;

• Must possess good mechanical skills and understanding of machinery operation and functions;

• Ability to follow directions and work with different personalities under stressful conditions.

TYPICAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Activities primarily outside the shop. There is exposure to extreme cold and heat for periods of more than an hour at a time. The worker is subject to sufficient noise levels and hazards involving a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. There is air and/or skin exposure to oils, chemicals, other fluids, dust, dirt, and fumes.
